2010 Cadillac SRX
The 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover has been made officially revealed. A mid-size bliss crossover, the following generation SRX will be prominently displayed in Detroit. Featuring a choice between 2 different direct injection V6 engines, it appears Cadillac is a bit uncertain what the genuine point of this vehicle is. On the one hand, Cadillac is saying this SUV crossover to be terribly fuel efficient. Really, the SUV will get little better than twenty-five miles per gallon on the road, and worse in the city. The company is also plugging the car’s “excellent performance.” But if the curb weight of the new SRX is even near to the formerly pronounced range of 4300 to 4600 lbs, then the 260 hp standard 3.0-liter engine will simply not do the job. Granted, that is 5 more horses under the hood than this standard SRX engine, but the available SRX weighs anywhere from 200 to 500 lbs less than the following gen.
It is worth noting that the optional 2.8 litre turbocharged V6 does get three hundred h.p. with 295 ft-lb of torque, making the engine similar in power ratings to class rival Infiniti EX35. However, the EX35 base model weighs virtually one thousand pounds less than the following Cadillac SRX will. And the EX35 costs as much as $10,000 less than the SRX. If you simply study the features of the Cadillac SRX, it could be enough to make you glaze over the lackluster fuel usage and modest power ratings.
A tough disc drive is built in for mp3 storage, whilst 2 video screens are integrated for a rear entertainment platform.
One thing is for sure : the new SRX is built more for safety and comfort than performance and fuel potency. Heavy martensitic steel was employed at diverse points to guard passengers from intrusion into the cabin in a side-impact crash. That steel was also used to stop damage to the frame in front and rear crashes. Seat belts have 2 pretensioners to carry passengers tight in their seats, whilst a rollover-prevention system wants to make those seatbelts less obligatory. Because there are a few good points and bad points to this car, we’ll try and reserve last judgement till we get final pricing and specs on the subsequent generation crossover. But, since a Front-Wheel-Drive Cadillac SRX Crossover with the base engine has a computed 0-60 miles per hour time of about 8.3 seconds, which would be a full 2.0 seconds slower than the base Rear-Wheel-Drive Infiniti EX35, we’re not incredibly excited.
The new 2010 Cadillac SRX Crossover will premiere on Sunday, January 11 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
