Peugeot might not be able to make a profit out of cars it builds in France, but it’s still not giving up on being European. The new 208 is lighter and much better looking than the 207 it replaces. And with the coming of the GTi, it’s looking good for the supermini segment.

The only other Peugeot we really like right now is the Mitsubishi ASX based 4008 crossover. It’s got a floating grille, lots of chrome and a fresh-looking interior. Peugeot has launched a fresh batch of photos of the crossover today, ahead of the motor show debut in Geneva next month. While they have Photoshoped in some off-roading credentials that the 4008 doesn’t deserve, we’re glad to see it from a different angle.

The French crossover will be available with two petrol engines and two diesels. The base model is a 1.6-liter 115 hp. There’s also a 2.0-liter with 150 hp, mated to either a five-speed manual or a CVT. The diesel range starts with Peugeot’s 1.6-liter HDi with 115HP and also includes a 1.8-liter HDi producing 150HP, which is likely going to be the pick of the range.
