Bugatti Working On Veyron Replacement

Bugatti Working On Veyron Replacement
The Bugatti Veyron has managed to stay on top of its game over the years, even though it has constantly received threats from multiple carmakers. Now, it seems that a new generation of the speed-trading machine is preparing to come our way with a stunning level of performance, as Autoexpress reports.

It seems that Bugatti is working on a new incarnation of the Veyron, which will be significantly faster that the current hottest incarnation of the hypercar, the Super Sport.

The vehicle is likely to use the same 8.0 liter W16 engine and seven-speed double-clutch transmission, but both will be modified in order to offer a higher level of efficiency. The unit will offer at least the same output as the Super Sport (we’re talking about 1,200 hp and a peak torque of 1,500 Nm here), but the performance will be taken to a whole new level.

To be more precise, the 0 to 62 mph sprint time will drop below 2.5 seconds, while the top speed should exceed 270 mph (435 km/h). Yes, Bugatti will beat its own speed record, which has been set by the Super Sport and sits at 268 mph (431 km/h).

The performance increase will be achieved through a serious diet. Bugatti will use Lamborghini’s new all-carbon-fiber philosophy, but this will not be the only weight reduction pathway used to lighten the car. The vehicle will also come with lightweight alloy rims and thinner (yet stronger) glass.

The Veyron’s replacement is expected to show its face sometime in 2013.
